266 / conversations

Fun to find these kind of shots. I like to imagine
the conversations some plants might have

with their neighbours ~
the palm fronds above are laughing, no?

226 / moods

The rock pillars at Fingal

touched by sunset light

stormy sea

& quiet

201 / beach

more scans

I love the variety of patterns

unique

every day

189 / a few more

a few more pages from a new photo book

who will I give it to?

everyone likes trees, no?

some more than others

many kinds of palm trees, here in Byron Bay

some from tropical places, far away

186 / dream remedies 3

I became interested in homeopathic remedies in India -
where they are in wide use - bought some (large!) books about it,
& took them to the mountains

the next series of paintings
seemed to change, depending on what my main
interest was that year

& for an earlier series there is unfortunately
no record .. I was reminded of that today when I heard someone
say they had been meditating etc in India, & found it
difficult to meet the practicalities of being back in Australia

that is, I forgot to get them properly photographed

In my mind they all relate, in some way,
or perhaps its simply the same sensibility:
even though the current paintings are quite large,
in acrylics, & at first sight quite straightforward.

Anyway, its what's happening now.

In these years - this series was around the late 80's -
I certainly needed to exhibit & sell them,
yet didn't think a lot about who might be interested,
its where my own interests went

Hopefully a few people will like my next series
(mountains)
if I decide to exhibit, but it may not be the same people
as before.

181 / stones

'sailing along the coast'
At the time I made these small pictures, my living arrangements
were temporary. I would walk on the beach each day

'ancient angel'
& bring home the stones that caught my eye

'precarious moment'
the so-called smart scanner made its own decision
re the borders

'you need not know all the why & how, there is no end to questions'

'I am That
everything / nothing'

166 / hibernating

Somehow I'm still hibernating;
also it seems like only a few days since
the last full moon.
Painting is happening most days.

& my vegetable garden means I don't need to go out
so often.

119 / slow

This is the one I used for wallpaper on my iPad mini,
though I've yet to see how to get the full frame on the screen.
Does exposure to microwaves/wifi emitted by all
these devices have a measurable effect on our health,
or is it healthier to tune out some of the negatives?
That is, don't think about it?

4/14/14

118 / slow learner

Resized these, I thought, for use as wallpaper on
my new iPad mini

some of them won't work at all, with apps all over the top,

but the main reason is I haven't found how
the device will resize, though I spent hours reading
various how-to sites..

these last two would have been best perhaps,
but all of my pictures need to be the full composition

...certainly I like them to be. They invariably were
severely cropped on the iPad screen. I tried several ways, including
photographing the screen on my Mac, with the iPad.
When I locate the one I used, I'll post it.

90 /looking

It's been very hot here, & dryer than usual,
we are looking for rain

looking at cooler pictures doesn't really work
(especially when trying to figure out some Kafka-esque
glitch on my computer)

except to remind me of superb moments,
like this flight last May, coming in to Kathmandu:
suddenly, a real illusion

12/29/13

87 / higher

Near the 1922 Everest Base Camp,

the snowy mountains are further on

I had to stop frequently..

to..

..breathe

84 / what's real?

Yaks seem to take it all in: to me they feel very different to cattle,
such eloquent gazes, I would not have been surprised to hear one speak

the newer buildings look quite unreal,
especially compared to the monolithic old ones

I liked the tableaux in some stores

checkpoints quite often,
& sometimes it wasn't, really
